A FEW SUCCESSFUL PROJECTS

JHARKHAND JALCHAJAN YOJNA (JJY):-

In 2021-22, the Jharkhand Jalchajan Yojna (JJY) initiative was launched to increase the groundwater table in a specific area in Jharkhand and Saugaht Foundation was chosen as one of the Project Implementation Agencies (PIA) for JJY by the Department of Rural Development under the 'Jharkhand State Watershed Mission'. Our team took charge of project implementation in the Karra block of Khunti district of Jharkhand, with five panchayats of Bamrajja, Chhata, Dumargadi, Kachabari, and Mehan under our purview. As a part of our Natural Resource Management (NRM) activities, we developed Amrit Sarovar (Pond), Earthen Check Dam, Trench cum Bunding, Field Bunding, and other measures, which have successfully recharged groundwater tables. Under this project, we also organized many training programmes on various livelihood activities for the villagers. Our experts have given demonstrations on agriculture and various other income-generating activities. The local population has immensely gained the benefits of the JJY project, and we are proud to have positively impacted their lives.

JAL JEEVAN MISSION (JJM)

The Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) aims to create a "Jan Andolan" or people's movement for water, making it a top priority for everyone. Since 2021, Saugaht Founder has been one of the implementers of this project in Jharkhand. Our main activities under this project include "Water Resource Mapping", "Water Budgeting", and raising awareness about the value of freshwater resources. The project has been implemented in six blocks of Pakur District, namely, Pakur, Amrapara, Hiranpur, Littipara, Pakuria, and Maheshpur. Our activities also include Jal Choupal, a community-based approach. Behavioural Change Communication for the community to encourage judicious use of water has been an essential component of the JJM project. With our dedicated efforts, we are confident that our project will be successful in achieving this goal. Join us in this mission to create a better future for our community.

DEVELOPING A SCHOOL BUILDING FOR UNDERPRIVILEGED TRIBAL CHILDREN

Background :-- Saugaht Foundation established a preschool for 50 underprivileged tribal infants in 2014 in a small rented building of two rooms. The school was located in Path village under Phakiradih Panchayat in Bhandariya, Block in Garhwa district of Jharkhand. Till 2019 we ran the school in this building where the school did not have any facilities like a toilet, playground, kitchen etc. We used to cook mid-day meals for the children in a neighbouring house. After a prolonged closure during the COVID-19 lockdown, the owner of the building did not allow us to reopen our school in that building and we were asked to vacate the building. Subsequently, in 2021, we had to shift our school to another rented building, which was in a wretched condition. In this situation, we urgently needed to construct our own building with minimum required infrastructure. Fortunately, one kind-hearted local person Mr. Ramnath Singh donated 15 decimals (6534sq.ft ) of land to construct a school building for local tribal children. Saugaht Foundation appealed to Asha for Education to support the 1st phase of construction cost. We are grateful to Asha for Education for providing us with support for the 1st phase of construction.

Currently, we are running the school in our own school building and are looking for further expansion and improvement of the infrastructure. Please continue reading……. ( hyper link)
